Science
At Our Lady Help of Christian’s Primary School all students participate in a one hour science lesson per week taught by a specialist science teacher.
The science curriculum follows the Victorian Curriculum and includes the following areas of science;
Students participate in science within their class level which is Foundation, year 1 & 2, year 3 & 4 and year 5 & 6. The curriculum is sequential and builds on prior learning in the earlier years.
Science inquiry skills such as questioning, predicting, planning, recording, analysing, evaluating and communicating information are developed. The students experience a ‘hands on’ approach to learning science which involves experiments with a variety of materials. Students are asked to reflect on and discuss their new learning in order to develop deeper understanding of science concepts.
